HOW TO EDIT OR ADD A PAGE TO THIS WIKI

If you would like this page in a Word document you can print click How to add to a page to this wiki click How to add to a page to this wiki.doc

How to edit a page on this wiki:

Navigate to the page you want to edit

Click on <Edit> on the top menu bar of the page

Put in your password (if you don’t have one and you have a reason or you are my student, send me an e-mail). A page that looks like a Word page opens up.

Type where you want to. To change font, font size, bolding, or emphasis, select <Format>, <Font>  and <Size>

You can include images or links to a file you uploaded by clicking on <Insert Image> or <Attach file> respectively. IMPORTANT: If you include images, reduce the size of them on your own computer to no bigger than 500 pixels on the biggest side to save space.

When you are finished click <Save> at the bottom of the page. Check the page and make sure it looks the way you want.

How to make a new page on this wiki:

Click on <New page>. Enter the password.

Typically you will select <No Template>. This is up to you though.

Create your page by following the edit instructions above. Don’t forget to click <Save>. You now have a new page. But how to find it? See step 4.

IMPORTANT: Go to another existing page. For example you might want to go to the “Tips and Stuff from the Yooper Troopers” page. Select <Edit>. Somewhere on the page put in a title and description of your page. If there’s a table for links put it there (or you can make one). If not put it anywhere. For example you might have:

For a story about the problems I had learning Second Life and how I solved them see the page “I Survived!”

Highlight the title (I Survived!). Go to the menu bar and select the chain-and-world icon (link). You will be given choices what you want to link to – could be another wiki page, a URL, or an e-mail. Select <wiki page>.

You can also use an icon (tiny picture from your computer) as the link. Just highlight that instead of words. You might want to include “click here” or “click the _____” (whatever the picture is) so people know to click on the picture.

You will then be given a drop-down list of the available pages. Select the page you just made. Click <Save>. Then click on the page.

Now click on your link and make sure it works. TADA! You added a page.
